Sun Lotion Methods

By Haywood Hunter

The purpose of sun lotion is to protect your skin from the sun's ultra violet rays, and so lessen the risk of sunburn and, more seriously, skin cancer. However, if the cream you are using is not applied correctly, you may find it's effects to be negligible. Some points should be borne in mind when applying the cream to your skin.

The one thing you should not do is be thrifty with sunscreen. The more of it you use on your skin, the better protected from the sun you are. So do not concern yourself with the idea that you are being wasteful or using too much.

Be very careful to ensure that you apply the sunscreen to every inch of your body. Covering the back and the chest is a fairly straightforward process. But due care should also be paid to your ears, for instance, or between your toes.

Also, do not fall into the error of assuming you can skip a day or two where applying the sunscreen is unnecessary. Without proper care, your skin will lose all moisture and become dry and wrinkled. The sunscreen should be used every single day to avoid this outcome.

And the sunscreen should be applied a few times a day. Whether you have a swim at some point, get very sweaty, generally your protection is not guaranteed to last twenty four hours a day. You will need to top up your sunscreen periodically to maintain protection against the sun.

Before administering sun lotion of any description, always make yourself aware of the instructions for applying sunscreen that come with the container. The sunscreen will keep the threat of skin cancer at bay with effective use. And if you combine the instructions with the ways listed above, your risk of exposure to such cancer will decrease dramatically.
